Richard Chaffoo, MD, FACS, FICS offers the benefits of over twenty years experience in plastic surgery to his patients in San Diego. Breast augmentation with silicone gel or saline implants, breast lift, breast reconstruction and breast reduction are among the procedures he performs, along with facial plastic surgery and body contouring. Dr. Chaffoo has a rather unique distinction—he’s triple board certified. His certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery signals that he is approved to perform plastic surgery for men and women from head to toe. Additional certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery indicates that Dr. Chaffoo invested extra time and training in perfecting his skills in these intricate areas. One of the ways the San Diego plastic surgeon keeps up to date with the latest developments in his field is to participate in a variety of professional organizations that emphasize continuing education. He’s a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons, for example. He also belongs to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the San Diego Plastic Surgery Society. For his undergraduate education, Dr. Chaffoo attended Catawba College in North Carolina where he received his BA in chemistry summa cum laude. He earned his MD from Wake Forest University, and then joined the U.S. Navy where he performed an internship and residency in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. After completing his service in the Navy, Dr. Chaffoo traveled to the West Coast where he received fellowship training in facial plastic surgery and head and neck oncologic surgery at Stanford University and in burn surgery at the University of California, San Diego. He continued on to complete his plastic surgery residency at Oregon Health and Sciences University. Today, Dr. Chaffoo sees women seeking breast enhancement in the San Diego area in two convenient offices, one in La Jolla and one in Temecula. He knows cosmetic surgery is a very big step for most people, and to each patient he meets he pledges, “I will do everything I can to earn your trust.” |
