Plastic Surgeons:
Because
we educate mostly breast surgery, liposuction and tummy tuck patients;
we require our plastic surgeons to be certified by the American Board
of Plastic Surgery, which qualifies the surgeon to perform both
body and facial procedures. By choosing an American Board of Plastic
Surgery certified plastic surgeon; patients are ensured the surgeon
has graduated from an accredited medical school and completed at least
five years of residency (usually three years of general surgery and
two years of plastic surgery). An ABPS certified plastic surgeon must
also practice for two years and pass written and oral examinations in
plastic surgery.
There
are over 5000 ABPS certified plastic surgeons, and of them only a small
percentage are invited to join our plastic surgeon directory. I have
personally checked the qualifications of our member surgeons. In fact,
our plastic surgeons meet higher standards than those of any other referral
service as we only list select plastic surgeons to be in our surgeon directory. Our plastic surgeons must also maintain that standard in
order to remain in our surgeon directory.
About
Cosmetic Surgeons:
Some refer to plastic surgeons as cosmetic surgeons; however, a plastic surgeon is what you really want. Most doctors calling themselves "cosmetic surgeons" are not American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) certified plastic surgeons. When considering any plastic surgery procedure of the body, such as lipo, tummy tucks and breast surgery, you can be sure your doctor is qualified, trained and experienced in plastic surgery by looking for a plastic surgeon that is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). Dr. Jeffrey
Hartog, M.D., is the director of the Bougainvillea Clinique in Winter
Park, Florida. Dr. Hartog has received training all over the world,
from Johannesburg, South Africa where he grew up and where he completed
his early training in dentistry, to Miami, Dallas, Salt Lake City and
Glasgow, Scotland where he received his medical and plastic surgery
training.
The training
and education Dr. Hartog has received sets him apart from many doctors
and plastic surgeons. Aside from having dual board certifications in
Plastic Surgery and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Hartog is currently
a clinical instructor for the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery and was an assistant professor for the Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery Division at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr.
Hartog has also completed residencies in four different specialties-Plastic
and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Utah, General Surgery
at the Baylor University Medical Center, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
at the University of Miami, and Anesthesiology at the University of
Miami.
Dr. Hartog
has received recognition not only for his skill as a surgeon, but also
