Our Plastic Surgeons:

Because we educate mostly breast surgery, liposuction and tummy tuck patients; we require our plastic surgeons to be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which qualifies the surgeon to perform both body and facial procedures. By choosing an American Board of Plastic Surgery certified plastic surgeon; patients are ensured the surgeon has graduated from an accredited medical school and completed at least five years of residency (usually three years of general surgery and two years of plastic surgery). An ABPS certified plastic surgeon must also practice for two years and pass written and oral examinations in plastic surgery.

There are over 5000 ABPS certified plastic surgeons, and of them only a small percentage are invited to join our plastic surgeon directory. I have personally checked the qualifications of our member surgeons. In fact, our plastic surgeons meet higher standards than those of any other referral service as we only list select plastic surgeons to be in our referral directory. Our plastic surgeons must also maintain that standard in order to remain in our surgeon directory.

About Cosmetic Surgeons:
Some refer to plastic surgeons as cosmetic surgeons; however, a plastic surgeon is what you really want. Most doctors calling themselves "cosmetic surgeons" are not true plastic surgeons and are not qualified or experienced in plastic surgery. To be sure you are seeing a "true" plastic surgeon for any body plastic surgery, such as lipo, tummy tucks and breast enhancement implant augmentation choose an American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) certified plastic surgeon.

Meet Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Metzner

Dr. Metzner is board certified in two specialties recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties: Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat surgery).

He is a past member of the teaching faculty of Harvard Medical School and currently is Clinical Professor at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He served as a visiting professor at the Nassau County, New York Medical Center, and at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and as visiting lecturer at the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Metzner practiced cosmetic plastic surgery in the Greater New Orleans area from 1977 until he lost his home in Hurrincane Katrina. He has moved his practice to Manchester, VT. He has patients from all over the world.

Dr. Metzner uses the latest proved and effective techniques to give real results that look natural and that last. His specialty areas are minimizing the effects of aging, redefining facial features and contouring the body. Recognized by his peers, Dr. Metzner was chosen as president of the Louisiana Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and twice as president of the Double Boarded Society, a national organization limited to surgeons certified in both Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology.

Dr. Metzner is a three time recipient of the American Medical Association's Physician's Recognition Award and a four time recipient of the Appreciation Award from the North American Medical/Dental Association. He also received the prestigious Walter Scott Brown Award granted by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He earned specialist recognition from Marquis' Who's Who.

SURGICAL FACILITIES

All of the procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, although overnight hospital stay is available if you prefer. Dr. Metzner has carefully chosen Hospitals and Surgery Centers that are state-of-the-art and have the highest levels of certification.

Anesthesia services are provided by Anesthesiologists, medical doctors who specialize in out-patient anesthesia. The operating and recovery rooms are equipped to hospital standards to insure your safety during and after surgery. Their medical and surgical processes are continuously updated to optimize each patient's surgical experience, comfort, safety and well-being.

PLASTIC SURGERY CONSULTATION

The first step in deciding about cosmetic surgery is a private consultation with Dr. Metzner. You will have the opportunity to spend an hour with him in a very thorough and personalized session. He will ask you to describe what it is about your appearance that bothers you, and what you hope to accomplish. He will examine the areas of concern, take measurements, and check your skin elasticity. You will then compare your observations to make sure you agree. He will suggest one or a variety of procedures, and explain the benefits, limitations, and risks of each in language you can understand.

For facial surgery, especially for noses and chins, you can use our computer imaging system to see yourself on a monitor, and to preview possible outcomes of surgery. This will help in planning what would look best for your individual face and help you make choices with more confidence.
