About Scars Your incision scar will be permanent, but most are light to nearly invisible. At first it may be thick & red, but should become thin and light. Previous scar history does not indicate how your BA scars will heal. Scar Treatment Vitamin A & E cream or vitamin E oil capsules, splitting them open, and applying the oil directly as often as possible. I've also heard of using Rosa Mosqueta (which is essentially Rose Hip oil). Scar Cream It is my opinion that most scar creams advertise to help scars do not work. I believe if anything will work, Neosporin may help (do not apply to fresh incision). Hypertrophic Scars Dr. DeWire states most heavy scars (aka: hypertrophic scars) occur in about 10% of crease incisions, about 5% of areola and less than 1% of axillary (armpit) incisions. Coming

Areola Scar4 months, 11 days post op. Patient is very pale skinned and scars really badly; she has raised scars elsewhere from mole removal, so its a good example as to how well the areolar scars usually heal. |

Tiny Nipple Incision This patient has outlined the scar in the second photo. She states, "Dr. Leonard Gray does around the nipple and this is the result. He has not lost sensation in one patient yet!" Tiny Nipple Incision by Dr. Leonard Gray, San Francisco, CA Although breast augmentation surgery can be performed with incisions under the breast, in the armpit, and at the edge of the areola, I prefer a very small incision at the edge of the nipple. This is the smallest incision available for breast augmentation surgery. When healed, the scar is barely detectable. In well over 2000 implant placements with this tiny incision, I have never had a patient lose nipple sensation. Patients often ask me how I can get the implant in through such a small incision. The answer is that the implant goes in deflated and rolled up so it can fit through the tiniest incision. If you would like more information on tiny incision surgery or any of our other procedures, please feel free to contact us and one of our experienced and understanding staff members will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
